Botox Clinic in Cape Town

Welcome to our website, where we talk about Botox treatments to help you achieve smoother, more youthful-looking skin. Botox is a neurotoxin that is injected in small doses into specific muscles to temporarily relax them, which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements.

Botox is most commonly used to treat dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. The effects of Botox typically last between 3 and 4 months, depending on factors such as the patient’s metabolism and the dosage administered. Our team of qualified medical professionals can help you understand the potential benefits and risks of Botox and can work with you to develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to your individual needs and goals. We also offer Baby Botox, which uses a lower dose of the neurotoxin to achieve a more subtle, natural-looking result.

While it is generally considered safe and effective, it does carry some risks and potential side effects, such as temporary bruising or numbness at the injection site. We prioritise your safety and satisfaction, and we are committed to ensuring that you have a positive experience with us. If you’re interested in Botox treatments, please contact us to schedule a consultation. We look forward to helping you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Botox is a potent neurotoxin that works by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contractions. When administered correctly, it can effectively relax muscles, smooth wrinkles, and provide relief for various medical conditions. However, if it is not administered correctly, botox can have serious adverse effects.

One of the main risks of botox injections is the potential for the toxin to spread beyond the intended injection site. This can cause muscle weakness or paralysis in areas of the body where it was not intended. Another risk is that the incorrect dosage or injection technique can cause the toxin to spread too much or too little. If there is too little toxin, the desired effect may not be achieved, while too much toxin can cause excessive muscle relaxation, resulting in a frozen appearance or difficulty in performing certain tasks.

Therefore, it is important that botulinum toxin injections are administered correctly by a qualified healthcare professional who has received specialised training in the use of this treatment.

Traptox Cape Town

Traptox or Trapezius Btox , also known as Btox injections in the trapezius muscle, refers to the use of Btox type A to treat various conditions associated with the trapezius muscle. The trapezius muscle is a large muscle located in the upper back and neck region. It extends from the base of the skull down to the middle of the back and plays a crucial role in controlling the movement and stability of the shoulders and neck.
Traptox is primarily used to alleviate muscle-related pain, tension, and stiffness in the trapezius muscle. It works by temporarily paralyzing or weakening the muscle fibres, which helps to reduce muscle contractions and relieve associated symptoms. This treatment is often recommended for conditions such as trapezius myalgia (muscle pain), tension headaches, and chronic neck pain.
Apart from its therapeutic benefits, Traptox injections can also have aesthetic improvements for certain patients. When the trapezius muscle is overly active or hypertrophied (enlarged), it can result in a visibly bulky or overdeveloped appearance in the upper back and neck area. This can be particularly bothersome for individuals seeking a more balanced or streamlined aesthetic. By injecting Btox into the trapezius muscle, the muscle activity can be temporarily reduced, leading to muscle relaxation and a decrease in muscle size. This can help achieve a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing contour in the upper back and neck region. The treatment can create a more defined and slender appearance, especially when combined with a targeted exercise regimen and proper posture. It’s important to note that while Traptox injections can offer both therapeutic and aesthetic benefits, the results are temporary and typically last for 3-4 months.
The general dosage is 50-100 units per side.

What do patients say about our facial aesthetics service

Fantastic Experience at CDE with Dr. de Beer

I recently visited the Cosmetic and Dental Emporium (CDE) to see Dr. de Beer, and I couldn’t be more impressed! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and professional. Dr. de Beer provided exceptional care and took the time to thoroughly explain every step of the process, which put me at ease immediately.

What stood out most was the complete absence of pain – his gentle technique and attention to detail were remarkable. I walked out not only with a great smile but also with total confidence in the care I received.

If you’re looking for top-notch dental or cosmetic care in a friendly and professional environment, I highly recommend CDE and Dr. de Beer. Five stars all the way!

Karla Burt

Yesterday was my first time CDE and I must say, I had a really good experience. The staff is so warm and welcoming. From Natasha, to Dr Zak, to Nazley, everyone was super friendly.

The service is also pretty efficient, and I got the feeling that both Dr Zak (Dentist) and Nazley (Oral hygienist) were really good at what they do. I felt like I was in safe hands, so I didn't feel as tense as I normally would at the dentist - generally, dentist appointments aren't super pleasant.

The space is clean & modern, and they seem to be using cutting edge technology (I don't know what's cutting edge in dentistry, but that's the feeling I got) in their work.

Thanks CDE for making my dentist appointment such a pleasant experience 🙂

Questions About Botox

How Much Toxin I will Need?

The amount needed for an individual varies based on several factors, including the area to be treated, the severity of the condition, and the patient’s skin type, age, and muscle activity. While it is possible to estimate the amount required for a particular treatment, it is always best to consult with a qualified and experienced practitioner such as Dr. Zak or Dr. Pierre first.

Every face is unique, and our skilled practitioners will carefully assess the patient’s specific needs and tailor the treatment accordingly. They will take into account factors such as facial structure, muscle activity, and skin laxity to determine the optimal dosage and injection technique to achieve the desired outcome.

Moreover, our qualified practitioners will be able to advise patients on the potential risks and benefits of the treatment and help them to make an informed decision about whether Botox injections are the right choice for them. They will also be able to provide guidance on aftercare and follow-up appointments to ensure the best possible outcome.

In summary, while it is possible to estimate the amount required for a particular treatment, it is always best to consult with a qualified practitioner such as Dr. Zak or Dr. Pierre first, as every face is unique and requires personalized treatment to achieve the best results.

Which areas can be treated?

It can be administered to various muscles of the face and neck to achieve different cosmetic and medical effects. Here are some of the muscles/areas where it can be administered that we offer at The CDE:

  1. Glabellar complex (frown lines between the eyebrows)
  2. Frontalis muscle (forehead lines)
  3. Orbicularis oculi muscle (crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes)
  4. Corrugator supercilii muscle (vertical lines between eyebrows)
  5. Nasalis muscle (bunny lines on the nose)
  6. Depressor anguli oris muscle (oral commissures or marionette lines)
  7. Mentalis muscle (chin dimples and wrinkling)
  8. Platysma muscle (neck bands or “turkey neck” appearance)
  9. Masseter muscle (jawline slimming, grinding and migraines)
  10. Temporalis muscle (migraine and tension headache relief)

Other popular areas include:

  1. Gummy smile: It can be used to relax the muscles that control the upper lip, reducing the amount of gum that shows when smiling.
  2. Migraine treatment: Botox can be used to relieve tension headaches
  3. Brow lift: Botulinum Toxin can be used to lift the eyebrows and create a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
  4. Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating): It can be used to reduce excessive sweating in areas such as the armpits, palms, and soles of the feet.
  5. Lip lines above the upper lip called “smoker’s lines” or the so-called lip-flip. It can be used to improve / smooth out vertical lip lines that form around the mouth and in suitable patients with sufficient upper lip support, a lip flip can be performed, everting the upper lip to show more of the “pink lip.”
  6. Nasal flaring. Botulinum Toxin can make the nose appear smaller and also prevent upward movement or widening when the patient smiles
  7. Platysmal bands: It can be used to reduce the appearance of vertical bands that form on the neck as a result of aging.

It is important to note that it should only be administered by a qualified and licensed medical professional who has received specialized training in its use.

What kind of wrinkles does Botox address and what when should one start?

Botox injections are a highly effective treatment for dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repeated muscle contractions. By temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause these wrinkles, it can help you achieve a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance.

But did you know that Botox can also be used as a preventative measure? By starting Botox treatments before wrinkles become too noticeable, you can help keep your skin looking smooth and youthful for longer.

Our Botox clinic offers it as a preventative measure, and they can help you develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to your specific needs. By starting early, you can help prevent wrinkles from forming in the first place, which means you may be able to avoid more invasive treatments down the road.

Of course, it’s important to remember that there are other ways to prevent wrinkles as well, such as protecting your skin from the sun, eating a healthy diet, and staying hydrated. But if you’re looking for a more targeted approach, Botulinum Toxin may be a great option for you.

If you’re interested in using it as a preventative measure, talk to us today. We can help you understand the benefits and risks of the treatment and can work with you to develop a plan that’s right for you.

What is baby Botox?

Baby Botox is a term used to describe a lower dose of Botulinum Toxin that is used to achieve a more subtle, natural-looking result. The term “baby” refers to the smaller amount of Botox used, not the age of the patient.

With Baby Botox, a smaller amount of the neurotoxin is injected into targeted areas of the face to achieve a more natural result. The goal is to soften fine lines and wrinkles without completely freezing the muscles in the face, which can create a more artificial or “frozen” appearance.

Baby Botox is often used to treat areas such as the forehead, crow’s feet, and around the mouth. The smaller dosage used in treatments means that the effects may not last as long as a standard treatment, but it also means that there is less risk of side effects or complications.

If you’re interested in Baby Botox, it’s important to consult with one of our qualified and experienced medical professionals who can help you understand the potential benefits and risks of the treatment. They can also help you determine if it is the right choice for you based on your individual needs and goals.

If you feel Botox / Dysport is out of your budget, you can opt to have some baby Botox to try out the effects from as little as R1500.

“I had Botox before and my eyes felt heavy” – here is why…

The frontalis muscle is a prominent facial muscle located in the forehead. It plays a significant role in facial expression by lifting the eyebrows and creating horizontal forehead wrinkles. When Botulinum Toxin is injected into this muscle, the botulinum toxin contained in the Botox medication blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for transmitting signals from the nerves to the muscle. This action temporarily paralyzes the muscle, resulting in a smoothing of the wrinkles on the forehead.

However, injecting it into the frontalis muscle requires careful consideration due to its size and strength. The injection must be precisely targeted to avoid affecting the movement of the eyebrows and the forehead. Over-injection of Botox in the frontalis muscle can cause the eyebrows to droop, resulting in a heavy or tired appearance. Conversely, under-injection may not provide sufficient smoothing of the wrinkles.

Some patients are better off not having the forehead injected, including the ones with puffy eyes or small foreheads, where they rely on the frontalis muscle to help keep the eyes open. Our doctors will be able to diagnose if you are a suitable candidate for toxin in the forehead.

PRICES: Botox / Dysport R90 per unit (consultation fee of R1250 waivered should treatment be done on the same appointment than consultation)
